AGRIPROSPECTS 2014

MITCON Institute of Management successfully organized one day National Conference.” Agri prospects 2014” on January 18, 2014 at Balewadi Campus.The conference received overwhelming response with more than 650 agri–graduates participating in the event. This provided a platform for the budding agri-business executives to explore career opportunities in different sub sectors of agri-business sphere.

Hon. Shri Vinayji Kore President Warana Group of Co-op. was the Chief Guest for the function. Mr. Kore stated the need for combined efforts of farmers, policy makers, public representative and Agri graduates to take Indian agriculture to the new height.

While Shri Umakant Dangat, Agriculture Commissioner delivered the keynote address. Dr. Pradeep Bavadekar, Managing Trustee, MITCON Institute graced the occasion with his valuable presence. Senior executives from leading Agri- business companies addressed the students. Pharmeet 2014

PHARMEET - 2014, a National Conference on 'An insight into the Pharmaceutical World' was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Management, MITCON Institute of Management, Pune, on February 8, 2014, was attended by more than 500 students and academicians.

Under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh Rao – Director and Prof Varsha Agte, HOD – Department of Pharmaceutical Management, MITCON organized this conference to provide a platform for industry academia interaction at a professional level and make students aware about the existing and upcoming opportunities after graduation in pharma sector. Prof Nitpal Singh, Faculty – Department of Pharmaceutical Management was the Convener of the event. The symposium was an endeavor to bring together all the stake holders of the pharma industry.

A total of 155 students participated in Pharma Quiz and 85 Posters were received from different states. There was different poster presentation competition for under-graduates and post-graduates. Winners were awarded Trophies along with Cash Prizes with the highest amounting to Rs 3,000. The prizes were sponsored by Resilient Cosmeceuticals Pvt. Ltd and GPL India. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Pankaj Upadhyay, Executive Vice – President, Akumentis Healthcare Ltd.

Key note speakers from Pharmaceutical companies graced the occasion with their valuable talks. While Mr. Pankaj Upadhyay, Executive Vice – President, Akumentis Healthcare Ltd. emphasized on the importance of brand ‘I’ to succeed in pharma industry. Mr. Prithwish Banerjee, Head Sales, Boehringer- Ingelheim (India) Ltd. gave an insight into growth in the pharma industry and told the students about the right attitude required to grow with industry. Mr.Mehboob Hudewale, Manager, International Marketing, Cipla spoke about the opportunities in the pharma international marketing. Mr. Umesh Kutty, Senior Training Manager, IPCA Labs. Ltd. focused on importance of beginning a career in pharma sales. Mr. Sachin Purohit, Founder and Owner, Resilient Cosmeceuticals Pvt. Ltd. gave an insight into the career paths in biotech and cosmeceutical industry. Mr. Yatin Thange, Product Manager, Abbott India Ltd. focused on career in product management team and Mr. Ashwin Deshpande, Marketing Manager, Emcure Pharma Ltd. on pharma marketing as a career.

MITCON HR CONCLAVE 2014

MITCON Institute of Management organized a HR Conclave on September 13, 2014 on “HR in grooming gen next leaders”. Inaugural ceremony of Programme was started with lamp lighting by Dr. Pradeep Bavdekar, Ms. Khushbu Ashar Dr. Ganesh Rao – Director, MITCON Institute of Management focused on the objectives of new dimensions of HR in today`s world and encouraged the students to get involved in upcoming placement activities.

Dr. Bavdekar MD, MITCON Consultancy & engineering services, discussed the role of management in today`s era and focused on the importance of HR in student`s life. He said that every year MITCON Institute of Management has been updating the syllabus in line with the changes in corporate world practices through Academia Industry interactions such as HR Conclave 2014.

Chief Guest, Ms. Khushbu Ashar ‘VP- Corporate HR’ IndiaBulls discussed the process of HR and how to balance the gap between the industry demand and student`s expectations. She focused on the positive attitude and enthusiasm of students in this practical world and to be versatile in every aspect.

Speakers from different industry background shared their experiences and views on the theme. The program was followed by the panel discussion on Succession Planning: Key to grooming Talent in an organization among several speakers.

The conclave ended with an open discussion of speakers with students. A galaxy of 20 senior speakers from corporate like Tata, Birla, Axis Bank ITC etc. graced the occasion and spoke on the subject. 200 students of MITCON Institute of Management attended the conclave.

AGRIPROSPECTS 2013

A Two Day Annual National Conference held at MITCON Institute of Management on 9th & 10th February 2013 which presented real –life scenario of agriculture & allied sector to budding Agri - Graduates and Entrepreneur's in terms of Emerging Career Opportunities for them and how to leverage the same. The conference was well received amongst student community and had 1200+ registrations.

The session was inaugurated by Honorable. Shri Harshwardhan Patil (Minister of Co-Operation & Parliamentary Affairs, Maharashtra) and was also facilitated by Chief Guest Dr. Budhajirao Mulik, Founder & Managing Trustee of Bhumata Charitable Trust, a pioneer in development of virgin land into productive land Guest of Honor, Mr. Umeshchandra Sarangi, IAS, Rtd Addl. Chief Secretary, Government of Maharashtra & Ex CMD, NABARD, Dr. Pradeep Bavadekar, MD, MITCON Institute, Dr. Ganesh Rao, Director, MITCON Institute and Dr. Shubhangi Salokhe Dean MITCON Institute.

The key guest and speakers spoke about the significance of agriculture at all times for economic growth and highlighted various trends evolving in specific Agri input-processing – output industries like: Mr. Vijayrao Patil, AVP Deepak Fertilizers spoke on various opportunities available with the fertilizer industry.

Secondly Dr. Sunil Dnyandeo Shelke -General Manger Technical & Marketing. Uttara Foods & Feeds Pvt. Ltd. enlightened the audience on career options with the poultry industry

Due importance and information exchange also happened in areas of Rural & Inclusive banking opportunities for Agricultural Graduates by Mr. M.V. Ashok Chief General Manager, NABARD and Dr.N.B.Shete, Rtd. Professor NIBM, Pune.

PHARMEET – 2013

PHARMEET - 2013, a National Conference on 'Opportunities in Pharmaceutical Industry' was organized by the Department of Pharmaceutical Management, MITCON Institute of Management, Pune, on Feb 2, 2013, and attended by more than 550 students and academicians.Under the guidance of Dr. Ganesh Rao -Director and Dr. Shubhangi Salokhe - Dean, the Department of Pharmaceutical Management had organized this conference to provide a platform for industry academia interaction at a professional level and make students aware about the opportunities after graduation in Pharma sector. Even though this was the inaugural conference of an annual series scheduled to address Pharma issues, there was an overwhelming response from Pharmacy and life science students from 45 colleges in 20+ cities in India.A total of 185 students participated in Pharma Quiz and 125 Posters were received from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharashtra, New Delhi and Rajasthan. Judges were academicians from Colleges of Pharmacy. There was different poster presentation competition for under-graduates and post-graduates. The Chief Guest for the event was Mr. Krishna Prasad, Director – Alliance Partner Quality Assurance – India, Pfizer India Pvt Ltd. There were five sessions, addressed by Key note speakers from the Industry.

While Mr. Krishna Prasad - Director – Alliance Partner Quality Assurance – India, Pfizer India Pvt Ltd. emphasized on the importance of grabbing the right opportunity at the right time, Mr. Vishal Jajodia- CEO - Swati Spentose Pvt. Ltd gave an insight into the etiquettes and mannerism and told the students about the right attitude required while in the industry. Dr. Vipin Dhanorkar- Director – IPR Group, Lupin Ltd. spoke about the opportunities in the IPR sector; Dr. Prasad Kulkarni- Medical Director – Serum institute of India Ltd about the recent scenario of clinical trials in India and Mr. Padalkar - AGM – Sinsan Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. about marketing as a career.

Convocation 2013

MITCON Institute of Management, Pune has proudly hosted its 7th Convocation Ceremony "Udaan 2013" Saturday 7 December 2013, at the convention hall of the institute. The Chief Guest of the Ceremony was Shri G.K Pillai,MD and CEO of Walchandnagar Group of Industries. The ceremony was also graced by Dr. Pradeep Bavadekar, MD, MITCON Consultancy & Engineering services Ltd.The Ceremony Began with the Academic Procession which included the Graduating Students.All the dignitaries addressed the students with their words of wisdom and congratulated the students on their achievements.

Students were accompanied with their parents and relatives for the ceremony.173 students were conferred with "Post of graduate degree in Management" in their diverse divisions: Agribusiness Management, Pharmaceutical Management, Bio technology Management, Banking and financial services and Business Administration

Victorious students were presented with various categories of awards. The students who secured First And Second position in each division were awarded with GOLD MEDALS.

Mr. Imran Khan (ABM), Mr. Manish Nair(PHM), Mr. Samrat Pazare(BA), Ms. Renuka Jadhav(Bio tech)were Awarded STUDENT OF THE YEAR AWARD for their all-rounder performance in academics, extracurricular, co curricular and other institutional activities. The award was a Cash Prize & Silver Medal (Sponsored by Mrs. Rashmi Dave).

The ceremony was concluded by a vote of thanks given by Prof. Srividya Sridharan (HOD, Banking and financial services) She Thanked all the dignitaries who had spared their valuable time to attend "Udaan 2013"

BANKING PROSPECTS 2013

MITCON Institute of Management once again launched a highly successful National level seminar this year titled Banking Prospects 2013 - Discover the Banker Within. An interactive and explosive event on career opportunities in the Banking and Financial Services Segment. The event saw as participants, undergraduates from colleges all over Pune. The seminar was presided by Chief Guest Shri P.N.Deshpande, GM Bank of Maharashtra and Guest of Honor Shri Kanchan Kulkarni, Head Rural & Inclusive Banking, ICICI Bank.

Students and Faculty listened with rapt attention as Shri P.N.Deshpande, GM, Bank of Maharashtra narrated his personal experiences and his rise in the Banking Domain over a span of 34 years.The need to have a specialized post graduate education in the domain of Banking & Finance was stressed. Shri Kanchan Kulkarni from ICICI Bank took over the session giving great insights into Career Opportunities in Agri and Inclusive Banking. The other dignitaries included Prof. Muralidharan from National Insurance Academy, Shri. S.V.Radhakrishnan, Zonal Head, Indian Bank, Shri Prasad Kalbhande, Free lancer in financial consulting, Shri Bignesh Mishra, Territory Manager, Kotak Life Insurance, Shri Mukesh Kuwad, BSE Brokers Forum and Shri Pradyumna Sevekari, Founder and Principal Consultant Money Growers.

As a part of the CSR initiative of the Banking & Finance Department at MITCON Institute, we invited Visually challenged students of Niwant Andh Mukta Vikasalay to put up a stall of self made chocolates and greeting cards. Special Career Counseling Hubs were set up for participant students. The seminar ended with participants walking home with cash awards worth Rs. 1000 each sponsored by Bank of Maharashtra and many gift vouchers worth Rs. 1000 sponsored by BSE.

MDP on - Banker's Due Diligence

MITCON Institute Center for Management Excellence had organized one day management development program for managers and executives in banking sector on 11 February 2012 at MITCON Institute of Management.The branch managers and other officials from various cooperative banks attended the one day Management Development Program. The program was inaugurated by Dr Ganesh Rao, Director, MITCON Institute of Management.

While addressing the participants, Dr Ganesh Rao, Director, MITCON Institute of Management stressed upon the need for continuously updating knowledge in today’s work world and briefed them about the efforts being initiated by MITCON Institute Center for Management Excellence in this direction. The senior branch manager from nationalized bank and consultants from banking sector were invited to facilitate the sessions.

The trainers covered the important areas like NPA, EDD, KYC, Credit Appraisal and Loan Documentation during the day followed by in-depth discussion with the participants later. The feedback received has been very encouraging and positive.

Entrepreneurship & Business Plan Workshop

Entrepreneurship & Business Plan Workshop in association with IIT Delhi & Nurture Talent AcademyMITCON Institute of Management in association with IIT Delhi & Nurture Talent Academy organized a one of its kind, Entrepreneurship & Business Plan Workshop on 11 February 2012.This workshop was attended by more than 200 participants including working professionals, students and faculties from leading Management, Engineering, Science and Commerce colleges in Pune.

Dr. Ganesh Rao, Director, MITCON Institute of Management while welcoming all the participants said, "We are delighted to be associated with IIT Delhi as well as Nurture Talent Academy - India's 1st training institute for entrepreneurs for this workshop. This workshop will be an enriching experience for all the participants."

Dr. PradeepBavadekar, Managing Trustee, MITCON Foundation while inaugurating the event emphasized, "The main objective of this workshop is to support budding entrepreneurs in the country, by providing them the right training and mentoring for starting a venture. This workshop will also facilitate students, professionals as well as startups to convert their ideas into viable ventures and foster the entrepreneurial spirit within them."

Students, faculty members of the Entrepreneurship Development Cell made special efforts to make the program worthwhile for attendees.

Mr. Siva Ramaswami, an intrapreneur and a renowned faculty of Entrepreneurship along with two established entrepreneurs Dr. Sarang and Mr. Surendra Jain delivered the contents as resource persons.

The participants who attended this exclusive workshop were taught several attributes related to "Business Plans" from generating business ideas, to drafting a pitch.

All the participants received a certificate of participation from IIT Delhi.

Entrepreneurship Awareness Program

Entrepreneurship Development Cell of MITCON Institute of Management organized an Entrepreneurship Awareness Programme of three days in the campus premises. The objective was to expose students to entrepreneurship as an alternative career. MITCON Consultancy and Engineering Services Limited conducted this programme being a Nodal Agency for Maharashtra from 17th January to 19th January 2012. Students received a certificate upon successful completion of the programme. Programme participants were final year students pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Agri-Business, Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Management and Business Administration. Many of the sessions saw active participation of students in various activities conducted by experienced and seasoned trainers. Students participated actively in the programme and made it a success. Students were exposed to different aspects of entrepreneurship including opportunity guidance, services offered by agencies of support system, government policies and incentives. Six resource persons were drawn from the local institutions with considerable numbers of years of experience in relevant areas.

Leadership Development Program

A Leadership Development Program – 'Being a Leader' was conducted on 12 January 2012 in the Campus for Project Managers and Team Leaders of MESTECH Services Private Limited - a manufacturing technology consulting firm headquartered in Pune, India with operations spread across India and the United States.The MDP was conducted and facilitated by MITCON faculty member using innovative methodology and was very well received by the participants. An active-learning approach was used to help participants reinvent themselves as leaders and improve business skills and create a plan of action that embodies their insights developed from the workshop.
